We arrived hoping for 2 weeks of rest and relaxation and thats exactly what we’ve had. The house is very well equipped and everything was clean and comfortable when we arrived. Our hosts Chris and Julie were very welcoming and available if we needed anything. The pool is fabulous and very much appreciated on the warmer days we’ve had. It’s been lovely to explore most of the bastide villages in the area which are stunning and would recommend visits to Eymet, Castillonnès, Bergerac, Monflanquin, Villeral, St Foy Le Grand, Issigeac, Sarlat, Domme, Monpazier and a little further afield Périgueux. Most have markets at some point and most have beautiful churches. We will be back.

We have had a wonderful holiday and staying at Julie & Chris’s was part of it. The area is new to us so we have visited several bastide towns/villages which have been delightful. Once our trips were complete we returned to our gite. It has everything that you could possibly need. Julie & Chris were friendly and helpful. The goods they left for us on arrival were greatly appreciated. I would recommend this property and area as you can be busy seeing sights or just enjoying the pool and grounds of the gite. Julie and Chris should be proud of their efforts.

Our second visit to this lovely gite. Another warm welcome and couple of evenings spent with Chris & Julie. We know this part of France quite well, so kept local this time. The weather has been exceptional, albeit extremely hot in our second week. We have booked to come here again next year.

Please see our review of this time last year. Nothing has changed. So much so that we had booked for 3 weeks next year. Have enjoyed a few lunch time meals at the café/bar in the village. Chez Mimi was interesting and very french, 5 courses, no choice, vin compris.

After two postponements due to Covid, we eventually made it! It was well worth the wait. Chris & Julie were very understanding and have been perfect hosts. We have been coming to France for over 40 years and this is definitely the best gîte we have stayed in. Location, ambience and equipment are superb. A lovely gîte to stay in and the pool was much appreciated.

This was our fourth visit to Chris & Julies, but the first since 2017. As usual the gîte was wonderful as were the hosts. It was really nice to see them again and we had some lovely evenings with them. This holiday was just a chill out holiday as we have explored the area on previous visits, so the pool was a daily visit for a laze around, and I even managed to go in this time.

A fantastic fortnight – the gite is perfect with every need catered for. Chris & Julie have been very welcoming and have enjoyed their company. The surrounding countryside and bastide towns are beautiful. We have booked to come back next year! Thanks a lot Chris & Julie – Take care.

Our second visit to Les Mûriers, but this time with my Mum & Dad. We wanted them to experience how wonderful it is to stay at Chris & Julie’s gîte. Needless to say we have had a fantastic 3 weeks! Chris & Julie are so welcoming and friendly and have thought of everything you could need, a home from home. The pool is lovely and we have enjoyed it every day, even Dad!
We visited Agen, Bordeaux, Monflanquin, Gavadun and Eymet to name a few. We can recommend the Pizzeria in Eymet. Chateaux at Monbazillac and Duras.
We have never before stayed at the same gîte twice, Les Mûriers is an exception and we would definitely like to come back again!

We had a lovely time here at Les Mûriers. Chris and Julie were very helpful. This gîte completely children friendly and perfect for families. The market in Castillonnés was lovely and we recommend a trip. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

PPS. Ping pong was great fun, we recommend future guests use it.

We walked into a little piece of paradise. The grounds are beautiful and the gite itself spotless and beautifully decorated. Chris & Julie have thought of everything. All those little extras make such a difference. Thank you to you both for all your help and advice during our stay. Ideas for places to visit for future guests:- Kayaking down the Dordogne is a must. Absolutely stunning views of chateaux as you glide down the river. Julie kindly helped with booking. I would take some snacks next time but you have places to stop and eat along the way. Chateau Biron was really nice and worth a visit. We also went to the chocolate museum……who doesn’t like chocolate! There is a patisserie next door so, win win, I say. I will definitely be back as a week isn’t long enough. THANK YOU.

We have had a really relaxing fortnight, Julie, Chris, you have it spot on, there when needed for advice and help and you keep everything so clean here, we have holidayed in France for 20+ years and honestly this is the best kept gite + grounds ever! We aren’t bird watchers but have seen Golden Oriole, Honey + Common Buzzard, Hoopoe + on our last day Peregrine Falcon, fantastic. The star, satellite + shooting star gazing is second to none and upon several evenings we had a Nightjar fly over us. Lots to see and do locally and we found L’entree in Castillonnes does a lovely meal, you have to book and please prepare to wait a while, but it is worth it! Thanks for everything Julie + Chris + long may you prosper!

We have had a brilliant 2 weeks at Chris & Julie’s gite. Chris & Julie were so welcoming and thoughtful. It has been very relaxing and peaceful. The pool has been so welcoming on hot days. Julie & Chris have thought of everything you could need and were around if we needed advice. We visited Monflanquin which is beautiful and other similar towns. Chateau’s Duras, Biron, Monbazillac (wine tasting!) & Lauzun. On Julie’s recommendation we had a lovely meal at La Marechalerie in Castillonnes. Thank you so much Chris & Julie.

We have all had a lovely relaxing two week stay at Julie & Chris’s gite. Julie & Chris were wonderful hosts, offering lots of advice on places to visit and local restaurants. We spent time around the lovely pool on the very hot days. We visited several bastide towns, Chateau Milandes and a vineyard. Thankyou again Julie & Chris for an amazing stay!!!

Gite spotless when we arrived. The garden and pool have been fantastic to use. Everything we needed indoors and out. The Bastide towns are amazing, Jardin de Nenuphars (Lily Gardens) at Temple – sur – Lot was outstanding even though no all the lilies were out, worth a visit. We have had an excellent 2 weeks in your beautiful gite. The weather has been scorching so the pool has been a big hit for the four of us. We have done lots of touring around, our highlights are: St Emilion, Chateau de Beynac, Sarlat, Chateau de Castelnaud, Bergerac old town, Monflanquin, to name a few! The Sunday market at Issegeac is a must as is the local bar! The pizzas at the bar are delicious (have left the menu on the pin board by the fridge}. Thank you Chris and Julie for making us so welcome and for your help, particularly after the big storm! We will certainly be coming back. XX

We have had a wonderful two weeks holiday here in this lovely gite. During our stay we have thoroughly enjoyed exploring this area of France We have had a good time exploring the bastide towns and trying the local cuisine. We particularly recommend ‘La Bastide’ in Monpazier for a delicious meal. Many thanks to Chris and Julie for making our stay so comfortable.

Excellent well appointed house. We have had a good time here visiting several bastides and enjoyed the birds in the garden – Golden Oriole (once) and Hoopoe (lots). Gardens of Sardy, Tuilieres Lock, Issigeac Chez Mimi was excellent, if anything too much food but great value. Issigeac historical guided walk and lunch at Bruceliere were excellent. Chateau de Gavadun walk good and Chateau de Biron interesting. Thanks very much Julie & Chris.

Another fabulous two weeks in this gorgeous peaceful place, with the added excitement of watching the Tour de France at Bergerac – a lovely place to visit at any time. Another thoroughly enjoyable stay. Since our last visit, Chris has completed the additional accommodation to his usual high standard and everything is perfect. We were therefore grateful for the underfloor heating as the weather was not favourable.
The walled medieval town of Domme is well worth a visit just to take in the spectacular views of the surrounding area.
As before our visit ends too soon and we said farewell knowing we will return next year.

We’ve had a lovely week at Les Muriers. The market at Issigeac was great on Sunday. We’ve had lots of bike rides and enjoyed visiting numerous ‘pretty’ villages. Best of all though was the garden, the view, the wildlife, jays, lizards, a serenade of frogs? from the pond below – a truly relaxing week. The finale was a splendid thunderstorm, after a gorgeous sunny week. Thank you.

We had a great week with Julie & Chris, great hosts. Chris has even loaned me a bike to explore the beautiful countryside. Do not miss the market in Castillonnes on Tuesday if you want some local produce. Issigeac is well worth a visit – we have left a card for excellent restaurant on the notice board. Fantastic ‘Bodega’ in Villereal (music festival) – lots of other stuff going on – well worth checking. We have had a spectacular crashing thunderstorm, wonderful clear nights for stargazing and some lovely sunshine. Thanks Julie & Chris for a great holiday!

The Sunday market at Issigeac is a must for any visitor wanting to savour the local ‘scene’. Spent the week exploring the bastide towns, saving time for visits to Chateau des Milandes (must see the bird display!) and to Bergerac. With a week of temperatures in the 30’s it was great to come back to the pool for relaxing swims each day.

A beautiful and very well equipped gite in a superb location. Plenty of good walks and pretty villages to visit. Sunday lunch at Hotel du Nord in Tombeboeuf excellent and great value. La Marechalerie in Castillones also excellent (we went twice) and much nearer! Bergerac old town visit – very old indeed!
